Well, the holiday gorge fest is pretty much done. I gained a whopping 10 lbs in only three days! I just hope it’s mostly water retention and not 10 lbs of solid fat!

Anyways, here is the bench press workout we did today:

  • Chain Bench Press, 100 lbs of chain at the top, work up to a heavy single
  • 3 Board Bench Press, still using chains but adding a bench shirt if you have one, work up to a max single
  • Pull-Ups x 50 total reps
  • Narrow Grip 3 Board Bench Press, body weight x max reps (I did 29 reps)
  • Fat Bar Dumbbell Rows 3 x 15

This was one hell of a tough training session for me. I was literally shaking after the workout. If you can do sets of pull-ups between the pressing, go for it. It will save you a lot of time.

Exercise and Diabetes
icon1 admin | icon2 Health | icon4 12 26th, 2009| icon3No Comments »

Diabetes is an illness in which the body does not use glucose properly. Glucose is a fuel that is carried by the blood to the body’s cells and requires insulin to allow it to pass into these cells. In a diabetic person the body doesn’t produce enough insulin or doesn’t respond effectively to the insulin that is present. As a result, the glucose stays in the blood stream and the level becomes too high for the body to handle. There are two main types of diabetes.

Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body’s immune system, partly or wholly, destroys the cells in the pancreas that produce insulin. The body is unable to produce insulin and requires insulin injections to survive.

Type 2 diabetes occurs when the insulin is produced but the cells in the body don’t allow the insulin to work. The cells are unable to accept blood glucose.

Excess glucose in the bloodstream damages blood vessels and nerves in the body and can result in reduced blood flow, increased chance of infections, and lengthens wound healing time. Long-term damage can result in blindness, kidney failure, heart disease, and amputation of limbs.

Diabetes can result from inheritance, an unhealthy diet high in sugar, obesity, or a combination of a bad diet and a lack of exercise.

Exercise Tips

- Use an extensive warm up and cool down period to adjust the body to exercise and then to adjust back to resting levels.

- Do not exercise for periods greater than forty-five minutes as it significantly increases the chances of hypoglycemia, or low blood sugar.

- Avoid exercising during periods of peak insulin activity.

- Be aware that the muscle the insulin was injected into may be swollen or tender. Exercising that muscle may be painful.

- Be careful of exercises performed above the head as this increases blood pressure and diabetes can result in the onset of cardiovascular problems.

- Monitor blood glucose levels frequently when starting an exercise program to learn how your body handles it.

- Always carry a quick fix of sugar in case of an emergency. Jelly beans are easy to carry and very effective.

Low Cost Tattoo Removal
icon1 admin | icon2 Health | icon4 12 26th, 2009| icon3No Comments »
Cost can be a major factor in determining which tattoo removal product to use and TCA tattoo removal is the most cost-effective way of removing an unwanted tattoo. Of the four most common methods of tattoo removal TCA is the least expensive by a significant margin. Below is a list of the four most common forms of tattoo removal from the least expensive to the most expensive.

Tattoo Fading and Removal Methods Ranked from Least to Most Expensive.

1) TCA Tattoo Removal
2) Tattoo Removal Cream
3) Dermabrasion
4) Laser

    1).TCA Tattoo Removal
  • TCA is a cosmetic acid commonly used for facial peels, removal or reduction of acne scars, warts and other facial blemishes.
  • It has been used as a tattoo removal products for the past 30 years.
  • TCA is the only home tattoo removal product that has has been thoroughly tested in two medical studies and proven to be effective as a tattoo removal product in the vast majority of the test subjects.
  • The first TCA tattoo removal medical study was performed from 1979 to1984 using 670 volunteer patients. At the end of the study, 85% of the test subjects were satisfied with their results.
  • The second TCA tattoo removal medical study was performed using 40 volunteers from May 1988 through February of 1989. At the end of the study, participants reported a 90% satisfactory rate.
    2).Tattoo Removal Cream
  • There is no known tattoo removal cream medical study proving the effectiveness of tattoo removal cream as a way to remove tattoo pigment. If such a study existed every manufacturer would be using it to market their product.
  • Many tattoo removal cream product manufacturers use to lure of a no pain, easy to apply, once or twice daily tattoo removal process that is simple, easy, and more affordable than laser surgery. They, of course, neglect to tell you that a simple tattoo removal cream, by itself, probably will not remove a tattoo.
  • Most tattoo removal cream products have one thing in common, most contain a skin pigment fading, or melanin inhibiting, chemical as a main ingredient in their product.
  • This skin pigment fading chemical fades the skin pigment above the tattoo and not the tattoo pigment itself, which is located in the second layer of skin called the dermis.
  • A tattoo removal cream, by itself, does physically remove a tattoo because it cannot penetrate the skin deep enough to reach the location of the tattoo pigment.
  • There are some tattoo removal cream products on the market that include exfoliates in the form of handheld battery operated sanders or loofah pads that must be used in conjunction with the cream.
  • Some manufacturers also include an exfoliate in the form of dehydrated silica or crushed walnut shells blended into the cream to form a grit which helps with the skin exfoliation process.
  • Many tattoo removal cream manufacturers have no product guarantee, offer no moneyback or they offer a guarantee, which is so restrictive it is virtually impossible to receive a refund if you are not satisfied with their product.
  • When considering buying a tattoo removal cream always check for a product guarantee and carefully read the wording to make sure it is valid.
  • One well known tattoo removal cream manufacturer explains their guarantee and return policy, but in the final sentence state that no retail purchases are refundable. They neglect to tell you where you can buy their product at wholesale prices.
  • The tattoo removal cream products that use no form of abrasion generally offer no guarantee. Some contain the chemical hydroquinone, which is known to be carcinogenic, cost approximately $65 a month per kit with no guarantee as to the number of kits it will take to see any difference, if any, in the lightening of the tattoo pigment or removal of the tattoo itself.
  • The tattoo removal cream products that contain an exfoliate grit in their ingredient list and combine that with a sander or recommend the use of a loofah pad generally sell for $50 to $75 for a one-month kit, but offer no timeline as to how fast you may begin to see results. This means you’ll be spending $50-$75 a month for many months before you see a change, if any , in your tattoo.
    3).Dermabrasion
  • Dermabrasion was first used in 1905 when the process was invented by a German doctor for the removal of post-acne scarring.
  • This procedure is also known as “surgical skin planing” and “non-chemical peel”.
  • Modern dermabrasion used for tattoo removal involves the use of freezing the skin above the tattoo and using an electric surgical sander to remove the skin containing the tattoo pigment.
  • This method of tattoo removal is very effective but, is very bloody, painful and generally leaves a scar.
  • This method is generally done over several sessions in a doctors office on an outpatient basis and is very expensive.
    4).Laser Tattoo Removal
  • Laser tattoo removal can cost anywhere from $150-$350 per session Modern lasers can be very effective at the removal of dark pigmented tattoos
  • Colors such as black, dark blue and other very dark colors generally are the easiest colors to remove and the number of sessions required depends on the size of the tattoo.
  • Tattoos that contain light colors such as light blue, light green, yellow, pink or white are very difficult to remove and can require many sessions which can escalate the cost of removal into the thousands of dollars.
  • Tattoos that contain the color white, in particular, are the most difficult of all to remove and ethically operated laser tattoo removal clinics will refuse to even attempt to work on them unless they are at least five years old or older and have had some exposure to the UV radiation of the sun.
  • After approximately 5 years of age, a white tattoo will have begun to fade naturally and become a bit easier to remove, although it will still be difficult.

In conclusion there are several things to consider, and look for, when researching which tattoo removal product is best for your situation.

  • When considering tattoo removal cream products always check to make sure they have a guarantee.
  • If they list a guarantee check to make sure that it is possible to meet the requirements listed for the return of the product and the refund of your money.
  • Check to see if a contact phone number is listed on the website so that customer service can be reached during normal business hours.
  • Look for an email address so that you can contact them at your convenience, and check to see if they list the company address on the website.
  • If the only form of communication is an email form with no visible email address or phone, number it may be best to avoid this particular company.
  • Always check the product ingredient list to be sure that the cream does not contain hydroquinone, which is a known carcinogen.
  • Some tattoo removal cream manufacturers will attempt to hide hydroquinone in the middle of a very large list of ingredients to make it difficult to see that the ingredient is present in their product, for this reason it is very important to closely read the ingredient list.
  • If an ingredient list cannot be found on the website avoid the product
  • Any home tattoo removal company that does not operate in a transparent manner and identify who they are should be avoided.

One TCA tattoo removal company provide a generous guarantee because TCA is an easy, effective and very affordable form of tattoo removal when compared to other tattoo removal methods available today.

Sugar Demons

Sugar does, at times, seem more like a demon than the fun and enjoyable treat that we so often associate with the white stuff.  Demons are well-known to possess your thoughts, visit you at night, make you do things you wouldn’t do and make you regret your choices. By that definition, I think that sugar rightly qualifies as a demon.

All joking aside, sugar is now well understood as a very addictive substance, and as an addiction it comes with some pretty harsh consequences for our health.

You might agree that sugar is addictive, but you may not know just how addictive or how harmful that addiction can be. Let’s take a look and see what science is starting to show us about sugar:

  • Sugar addiction: Animal studies show that sugar is every bit as addictive as cigarettes, alcohol and even drugs. If you understand that sugar is an addiction, you understand a lot of your behavior around the foods that you eat: bingeing, cravings, hoarding, obsession are all signs of addiction. If you have ever tried a diet, but couldn’t stick with it, or if you lost a lot of weight only to gain it back, you have your addiction to blame.
  • Weight Gain: While medicine denies that there is an association, sugar leads directly to weight gain. It does this because eating sugar creates large spikes in blood sugar. Whenever your blood sugar is higher than the current needs of your body, your body will store the extra sugar as fat. This does not happen with other foods, like broccoli, meat, or even an apple.
  • Insulin Insensitivity: Insulin insensitivity occurs when our cells become resistant to insulin. Both metabolic syndrome and diabetes are forms of insulin insensitivity. Your cells become resistant to insulin when there is constantly too much sugar in your blood stream. While even medical societies such as the American Diabetes Association deny the connection, sugar and foods that act like sugar are largely responsible for diabetes.
  • Toxic: The most surprising thing I uncovered while researching Sugarettes, my book on sugar addiction, was that sugar is toxic to the blood vessels in the body. In the exact same way that cigarette smoke damages the lungs, sugar in the blood stream damages blood vessels. This damage is clearly seen in diabetics who have blood vessel damage in the form of heart disease, eye disease, kidney disease and more. The exact same damage occurs in people who aren’t diabetic but who eat sugar, only slower.

Most of us know that tinnitus is a highly irritable ringing in your ears. However, one variant is pulsatile tinnitus. This is the term for noises that you hear that appear at the same time your heart beats. If you check your pulse either by putting your thumb on your wrist or on your jaw below your ear, you will find they beat at the same time and rate.

The 2 main causes of pulsatile tinnitus.

Changes to the blood flow to your ears

If, for some reason, a blood vessel is narrower than is would usually be, the supply needs to be carried across neighboring vessels. Think of it like a road system, if one has road blocks or is too busy, the cars will filter onto other roads instead.

This may happen when arteries harden due to the build up of cholesterol or other fatty materials (atherosclerosis). As this causes the unsmooth blood flow as mentioned above, the noises occur due to the extra blood being carried elsewhere instead.

Increased awareness of the blood flow to your ears

Although this may sound the same as above is it entirely different. If you are more aware of the sounds your body makes you will start to notice noises that have been there all the time. For example, a hearing condition or perforated ear drum may leave you without proper hearing and you are more than likely to realise the normal sounds that your body makes as they are not hidden by external sounds.

If you have started to notice a beating noise in your ear then you should speak to your doctor about it for diagnosis. This is done by looking at your eardrums and the blood vessels in your neck. If a diagnosis is made into your cause such as the examples above or high blood pressure then you will also be given help to treat it. Otherwise you may be offered advice into how best to manage it. This is often sound therapy or tinnitus retraining therapy (CBT).

Surgery is commonly used as cure for ovarian cysts, but surgery is not the finest solution to this problem. First, problems may arise during the operation and secondly, surgery can’t stop new cysts from growing again. To know why surgery is not the best cure, you should to know first what ovarian cyst is & how it develops. The whole problem revolves around to its formation.

These are small sacs filled with liquid found in the ovaries of women. They form naturally during ovulation period, when a woman is about to release eggs for fertilization. Normally eggs dissolve after a few days or so, but some don’t and are filled with fluid or blood, eventually leading to ovarian cyst pain. There are different types of cysts: corpus luteum cyst, follicular cyst, hemorrhagic cyst, endometrioid cyst, dermoid cyst, cystandenoma and polycystic-appearing ovary PCOS.

Do you know that all these cysts can be treated naturally and it’s actually been around for a long time? Think about it, women of all ages have been facing ovarian cysts for centuries & you can bet that they must have found ways to naturally ease the pain. Using the cures that nature provides is not only cheaper; it’s easier on the body. One of the things that you can do straight away to relieve some of the cyst pain is to take pressure off of your bladder. It may sound impractical but you would be surprised at how much cyst pain can be generated just because of surplus weight sitting on your bladder. Drink lots of water and go to the washroom frequently.

Another natural cure for ovarian cysts is good old fashioned fiber. Constipation can never be fun, and just like extra pressure on your bladder causes discomfort, having a backed up colon will cause you major pain. Constipation in reality can worsen an ovarian cyst, so to avoid this try getting as much fiber intake as feasible. Great sources of fiber that your body can simply digest are found in vegetables and fruits.

Try eating foods such as pears, apples, barley, blueberries, oatmeal, beans and peas as often as you can. Teas are also a great way of getting antioxidants and nutrients into the body, which will flush out toxins and help you cure ovarian cyst. A lot of people will suggest you go & opt for surgery, but surgery of ovarian cyst is not the only option left. Ovarian cyst pain can be treated naturally.

About the Author

So many women believe that surgery is the only options, but curing true root cause using a natural cure for ovarian cysts gives your body what it needs to dissolve your Ovarian Cyst safely and quickly eliminate all the pain. If you are anything like me you are right about to put yourself into a two day Christmas Food and Drink Coma. Instead of doing the sensible thing and attempting to limit your tasty holiday cheer consumption, why not do your damage control with a kettlebell?

Here is the Christmas Eve Fat Ass Prevention Kettlebell Workout that I just finished before the flood gates opened up! Do all the body weight work straight through without any stopping. Rest about 1 minute before starting the kettlebell complexes

  • Mobility Work (joint stuff), 5 minutes
  • Dynamic Warm-up (reverse lunge, side lunge, inch worm, Russian twist, t-push-up)
  • Bridge x 20 reps
  • Leg Lifts x 20 reps
  • Bridge x 20 reps
  • Leg Lifts x 10 reps
  • Bird Dog x 20 reps
  • Sit-ups with arms extended overhead x 10 reps
  • Single Leg Bridge, right leg x 20 reps
  • Sit-ups with arms extended overhead x 10 reps
  • Single Leg Bridge, left leg x 20 reps
  • Plank x max time
  • Clam Shells x 20 reps each leg
  • Plank x max time

Rest one minute, then start the Kettlebell Complex. I used one 24 kg kettlebell so feel free to adjust the reps up or down based on the weight of your kettlebell(s) and conditioning. Do four rounds of about 5 reps per hand per drill. Do not stop to rest until you have completed an entire round, then rest two minutes.

  • Windmill x 5 reps each hand
  • One Arm Swing x 5 reps each hand
  • Clean x 5 reps each hand
  • Snatch x 5 reps each hand
  • Figure 8 to hold x 5 reps each hand

This doesn’t look like much, but keep in mind each round is 50 reps without a break! Don’t be surprised if half way through your rounds you are talking yourself out of doing the fourth one. It is natural, but fight the urge to be fat until after the workout is complete. Once the workout is over however……enjoy your Christmas!

Now, if you are totally out to lunch and you hate my workout, check out this other Christmas workout I found.
